Creativity Day 2022

General Administration of Latin Patriarchate Schools

General Administration: Launch of "Creativity Day" at the Latin Patriarchate Schools - Palestine Ramallah, General Administration: Under the title "Creativity Day," the General Administration of the Latin Patriarchate Schools in Palestine celebrated on Friday, May 6, 2022, under the patronage of the Latin Patriarchal Vicar in Jerusalem, His Excellency Bishop William Shomali, the launch of the "Creative Student" competition at the Red Crescent Theater in Ramallah. The event was attended by administrative and teaching staff, students, and participating parents. The aim of this competition is to highlight the special talents and abilities of our students, fostering a spirit of competition and creativity among the participants, contributing to the intellectual, artistic, and educational development of the students.

After welcoming the attendees, the General Director, Father Dr. Ya'qub Rafidi, stated: "The Latin Patriarchate Schools believe that art is a fundamental nucleus in the components of human culture, providing people with an opportunity to express themselves on all life topics. Art is a means to preserve identity and heritage, and it is also a means of dialogue because nations communicate through the gateway of art. This emphasizes the importance of arts in bringing people together and enhancing their advancement, as well as conveying a clear message about moderation and respect for others, which are fundamental values adopted by the Latin Patriarchate Schools."

In his speech, the event patron, His Excellency Bishop William Shomali, said: "This activity stems from the belief of our schools in comprehensive integrated education, which develops not only the mind but also the emotions, imagination, social intelligence, and self-confidence. We have seen today, in the Book of Genesis, after all the six days of creation, the verse says, 'God saw that it was good.' In the last verse, it says, 'And God saw that it was very good.' Today, at the end of the first Creativity Day for the Latin Patriarchate Schools in Palestine, we say, what we have seen and heard and witnessed was good, even better, delightful, and more creative."

"Creativity Day" is being held for the first time in our schools to be an annual approach integrated into the curricula, school programs, and activities, creating a state of positive competition among peers. It is worth noting that the "Creative Student" competition began at the beginning of the school year, targeting students from the seventh to eleventh grade in all Latin Patriarchate Schools in Palestine in five areas: singing, playing instruments, drawing, writing, and traditional Palestinian dance. To follow up on this competition, an internal committee was formed from our schools' specialized teachers in each field. The final elimination was held on Saturday, April 9, 2022, to select the top three performances in each field, qualifying them for the final stage of the Creativity Day. The competition results were announced by a panel of expert judges: Mr. Said Abu Ma'alla, Arabic language teacher at the American Arab University, Mr. Abdul Hadi Yaish, a visual artist, Mr. George Abu Ghazaleh, from Ramallah Municipality, and Mr. Ibrahim Najem, a musician from Edward Said Institute.
