The opening of the first educational conference for the Latin Patriarchate Schools in Palestine

General Administration - Ramallah - Jerusalem: Under the patronage of His Beatitude Patriarch Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Ministry of Education, and the Arab American University, the first educational conference for the Latin Patriarchate Schools in Palestine was inaugurated on Thursday, March 17, at 10:30 am, at the Arab American University, under the title "Building Capacities, Opportunities, and Challenges."

The conference was attended by His Beatitude the Patriarch, His Excellency Bishop William Shomali, representing the Minister of Education, Dr. Suheir Qasem, and a representative of the President of the Arab American University, Dr. Muayad Abu Sa'a, as well as the Mother Superior of the Rosary Sisters, Sister Sophie Hatter, the General Agent of the Latin Patriarchate, Mr. Sami Al-Youssef, and a group of priests and nuns serving in Palestine. Also present were the directors of the Latin Patriarchate Schools and the General Secretariat, the nominees for the "Creative Teacher" award, and some teachers from the Latin Patriarchate Schools.

The opening included expressive speeches addressed to His Beatitude the Patriarch, the Ministry, and the University. A video about the Latin Patriarchate Schools in Palestine was also presented. The Patriarchate and the Latin School in Beit Sahour performed a national and patriotic musical segment, while the Latin Patriarchate School in Zababdeh presented a traditional folk dance. At the end, His Beatitude the Patriarch and the conference organizers honored the winners of the "Creative Teacher" competition. The first place was awarded to the teacher Nahed Abu Ziyadeh from the Patriarchate School in Jifna, the second place to the teacher Tha'era Fuadela from the Patriarchate School in Aboud, and the third place to Rozy Ahmed Mahmoud Afana from Al-Ahliya College School in Ramallah. It is worth noting that an internal committee and an external committee supervised this competition to ensure a scientific and professional evaluation.

This first educational conference comes in realization of the vision of the Patriarch and the message of the Latin Patriarchate Schools in Palestine to work towards the development and enhancement of the schools, striving for the quality of education while maintaining the highest levels of efficiency and effectiveness, and emphasizing the renewal of the Palestinian individual. The importance of this conference lies in its focus on meeting the needs of teachers, administrators, counselors, secretarial departments, accounting, and kindergarten sections in the Latin Patriarchate Schools in Palestine, aiming to unleash their potentials and capacities through the expertise of renowned educators in Palestine.
