Beit Jala - General Administration: The General Administration of the Latin Patriarchate Schools in Palestine organized the monthly meeting for school directors from Palestine and the Galilee. The intensive two-day workshop took place at the Carmelite Convent in Bethlehem and included the General Director of Latin Patriarchate Schools in Palestine, Dr. Faisal Hajazin, all school directors, and members of the General Administration and Finance office.
The meeting discussed various matters concerning the development of language curricula, particularly the planned change in the English language curriculum. The workshop also addressed general school activities and set a special agenda for Latin Patriarchate Schools during the second semester of the current academic year. The workshop concluded with the graduation ceremonies for high school students (Tawjihi).
A significant outcome of the workshop, according to Dr. Faisal Hajazin, was the in-depth discussion on formulating a new vision, constitution, and internal system for the schools. The new guidelines aim to cover all aspects of educational and academic life, aligning with the vision and goals set by the Latin Patriarchate for its schools over the past 160 years. The discussions formed committees to study proposals for the new guidelines, with the goal of having a written document distributed to all for public awareness before the start of the new academic year.
The attendees also benefited from experiences in educational and psychological counseling, emphasizing the need to build a distinguished educational environment for Latin Patriarchate School students. Deep discussions took place on academic and educational curricula for the first four primary grades, given the specificities of success, completion, and failure criteria imposed by the education system. There was also a discussion on lesson quotas, subject distribution, and school hours, aiming to fulfill educational requirements while accommodating the needs of achieving the goals and mission of Latin Patriarchate Schools.
The intensive workshop concluded with a divine liturgy presided over by Bishop William Shomali. During the liturgy, he delivered a highly expressive speech, drawing connections between the Gospel text and its application to the roles of directors and teachers, exemplifying the primary
teacher, Jesus Christ. The attendees were thanked for their commitment, performance, and dedication to their sacred mission of educating and teaching the generations.
