Math Learning Difficulties

General Administration of Latin Patriarchate Schools

A specialized training workshop was organized for mathematics teachers in the elementary stage at Birzeit, Ahliyyah, and Taybeh schools, entitled “Math Learning Difficulties.” The workshop was delivered by educational specialist Kafiyah Zaben/Baydoun.

The training aimed to strengthen teachers’ skills in diagnosing students’ difficulties in learning mathematics and addressing their various manifestations, such as: difficulty in recognizing symbols and numbers, weak problem-solving ability, loss of logical sequence in solution steps, and distraction during mathematical tasks.

The workshop also presented practical strategies to support students, including:

  1. Developing individualized learning plans that meet each student’s needs.
  2. Using visual aids and hands-on activities to simplify concepts.
  3. Enhancing sensory-motor coordination through interactive activities.
  4. Providing a supportive classroom environment that reduces math-related anxiety.

The specialist emphasized that early intervention plays a key role in helping students overcome math learning difficulties, which positively impacts their self-confidence and academic achievement.
