Ahliyyah College school– Ramallah Launches Fifth National Model United Nations Conference (ACMUN)

Ramallah – The Latin Patriarchate School – Ahliyyah College, Ramallah, opened the fifth edition of its National Model United Nations Conference (ACMUN) at the Arab American University – Ramallah Campus, bringing together more than 250 students from 10 schools across Palestine for two days of debate and diplomacy.

Rev. Dr. Yaacoub Rafidi, General Director of the Latin Patriarchate Schools, welcomed participants, stressing that the conference reflects the schools’ vision of preparing a generation of leaders capable of contributing to nation-building and engaging globally. He praised the efforts of Ahliyyah College Principal Ms. Dima Mughannam and teacher Ms. Rozy Afaneh for their role in organizing the event.

Addressing the students, Dr. Omar Awadallah, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for UN Affairs, expressed pride in Palestinian youth taking part in Model United Nations activities. He described such initiatives as vital for building early political and intellectual awareness and as real training in multilateral diplomacy, urging students to trust their potential and broaden their horizons.

Dr. Feras Abu Jaber, Assistant Academic Vice President at the Arab American University – Ramallah, highlighted the importance of hosting educational initiatives that link academics with real-world skills, commending Ahliyyah College for the professionalism and creativity of the conference.

Over two days, students engage in committee sessions simulating official UN debates, discussing pressing international issues in English. The program focuses on sharpening skills in research, dialogue, negotiation, and critical thinking, culminating in youth-driven draft resolutions and solutions.
