In a significant effort to elevate the quality of early childhood education, a group of dedicated kindergarten teachers from the Latin Patriarchate Schools, alongside with the kindergarten supervisor, have successfully completed a professional diploma in Early Childhood Education during the 2023/2024 academic year. This milestone achievement comes as part of a program supported by the World Bank, in collaboration with the Palestinian Ministry of Education.
The program, which lasted an entire academic year and included 320 hours of training, aimed to enhance the skills of kindergarten teachers. It provided them with modern teaching techniques, focusing on strategies that lead to student- centered learning. The program also highlighted on the importance of using “learning by playing strategy” as a powerful tool to engage young learners. Teachers were trained on how to effectively plan and implement educational activities that stimulate children's curiosity and involvement.
Another key element of the program was supporting the emotional and social development of children, alongside building their language and math skills. The program introduced innovative teaching methods that connect the learning process with the child’s surroundings, creating a more holistic and meaningful educational experience.
The Latin Patriarchate Schools proudly recognize the achievements of the teachers who completed the diploma: Juliana Khoury, the kindergarten supervisor; Mary Jaser from the Latin School in Jifna; Susan Fleyfel from the Latin School in Birzeit; and Dua' Wahdan from the Latin School in Aboud.
This accomplishment is a significant step forward in the continuous development of early childhood education at the Latin Patriarchate Schools. With these well-trained educators leading the way, the schools are ready to make a lasting and positive impact on the educational journey of their youngest students.
