Beit Jala: A New Vision for Security and Police Culture in Schools

Latin patriarchate school-Beit Jala

In a groundbreaking initiative, the administration of the Latin Patriarchate School in Beit Jala has embarked on a new approach to education, aiming to foster a fresh societal culture. Building on the goals of the secondary education system, the focus is on encouraging students to explore and choose their life paths through a program that introduces them to the local community and its institutions.

Recognizing that students are the pillars of the present and the hope for the future, the school's administration has decided to provide students with a comprehensive view of the reality we live in. This includes familiarizing them with commercial and industrial landmarks, technical specialization schools, and going beyond traditional academic education. The program aims to create a generation that engages ethically in various fields and understands how to navigate and contribute positively to society.

The program's initial phase addresses security and traffic matters, acknowledging the challenges posed by technological advancements and communication evolution. Collaborating with the Public Relations and Media Officer of the Bethlehem Police, Captain Luay Irzeiqat, and the Acting Director, Mr. Suhail Daibes, along with the school's Social Guidance Officer, Ms. Hanan Kharoufeh, several suggestions were presented to instill positive habits in students, steering them away from destructive societal behaviors.

Agreements were reached to conduct multiple sessions during social guidance classes, covering topics such as police and traffic regulations, the use of information technology, and proper conduct in public spaces. The focus extends to family protection, combating drug-related issues through awareness campaigns, and addressing instances of violence in society, families, and schools.

The implementation of this project is set to commence in the second semester of the 2013/2014 academic year, extending into future school years. The goal is to transform undesirable behaviors by instilling new habits, ultimately shaping a generation that embraces life and contributes positively to their community and nation.
