As part of the Teachers Without Borders project, a training was held for teachers of grades 1 to 4 to improve classroom practices and meet the diverse needs of students. Led by learning difficulties expert Kafaya Baydoun, the sessions aimed to help teachers identify and address various learning challenges, including learning difficulties, learning disabilities, and slow learning.
Key topics discussed included:
- Clarifying Concepts: Understanding the differences between learning difficulties, learning disabilities, and slow learning.
- Recognizing Indicators: Identifying signs of challenges such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and sensory perception issues (visual, auditory, and motor). The session also explored the strengths of students facing these challenges and the signs of slow learning across subjects.
- Managing Attention Issues: Understanding hyperactivity and attention deficits, their biological and psychological causes, and the difficulties faced by affected students.
- Practical Strategies: Learning effective methods to support students based on their needs and developing strategies to overcome challenges.
This was the first in a series of workshops planned for the coming weeks. Participating schools include the Latin Patriarchate Schools in Taybeh and Birzeit, as well as the Ahliyyah College.
The project aims to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge to handle diversity in their classrooms, ultimately enhancing the quality of education provided to students.
We remain committed to fostering excellence and innovation for a brighter educational future!
