A specialized training workshop was organized for Arabic language teachers in the elementary stage, delivered by educational specialist Kafaieh Zben/Baydoun. The workshop aimed to strengthen teachers’ abilities in diagnosing reading and writing difficulties among students.
The training addressed manifestations of dysgraphia, such as poor handwriting clarity, letter overlap, and lack of attention to punctuation. It also discussed dyslexia, including visual and auditory distractions, difficulties in concentration, loss of sequence while reading, and challenges in recognizing directions.
Practical strategies to support students were also presented, including:
1. Developing individualized plans tailored to each student’s needs.
2. Providing a calm classroom environment that minimizes distractions.
3. Simplifying learning materials and reducing unnecessary images and backgrounds.
4. Supporting sensory-motor coordination through practical and hands-on activities.
The specialist emphasized that early intervention plays a key role in overcoming many learning obstacles, giving students the opportunity to develop their reading and writing skills more effectively. This, in turn, enhances their self-confidence and academic achievement.
