In an atmosphere filled with joy and pride, the Latin Patriarchate School – Birzeit celebrated the opening of several new and renovated facilities, marking an important milestone in the school’s ongoing journey of development and excellence. The new facilities reflect the school’s commitment to providing a high-quality educational environment and creating spaces that respond to the needs of students, parishioners, and the wider local community.
The inauguration ceremony was held under the patronage of Rev. Fr. Canon Louis Hazboun and was attended by the General Administration of the Latin Patriarchate Schools, represented by Rev. Fr. Dr. Yacoub Rafidi; the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Nidal Qanoua; Rev. Fr. Economos Stavros Aranki; the religious sisters; members of the school’s administrative and teaching teams; representatives of Birzeit Municipality; Dr. Mai Kaila; as well as representatives of the town’s institutions and members of the local community.
A highlight of the celebration was the inauguration of the Latin Convent Nursery in Birzeit, which has become part of the school’s educational facilities. This marks the first nursery to join the Latin Patriarchate Schools, representing a pioneering step in the General Administration’s vision of providing children with a comprehensive educational journey from their earliest years.
The nursery offers children a safe, warm, and welcoming environment that brings together care, learning, and play. Designed to support children during their early developmental stages, it provides a stimulating setting that responds to their individual needs, nurtures their personalities, and develops their skills. It also facilitates a smooth and gradual transition from nursery to kindergarten and, ultimately, to school.
The celebration also marked the opening of a new football field named in honor of Rev. Fr. Dr. Louis Hazboun. The field provides a welcoming space for students, parishioners, and members of the local community, reinforcing the importance of sports in students’ lives. It offers a healthy environment for play, interaction, and recreation, while also supporting athletic talent, teamwork, and a strong sense of belonging.
As part of the school’s efforts to enhance the services provided to students, a new school cafeteria was also inaugurated. The cafeteria has been equipped to provide meals in a safe and hygienic environment, reflecting the school’s commitment to creating a comprehensive educational setting that promotes students’ health, well-being, and comfort.
The inauguration also included the reopening of the Parish Hall Theatre following its renovation and development. The renewed theatre is once again a vibrant space serving the school, the parish, and the local community, providing a suitable venue for cultural, artistic, educational, and social activities.
The celebration included the blessing of the newly inaugurated facilities with holy water, followed by words of reflection and encouragement from Rev. Fr. Nidal Qanoua, Rev. Fr. Dr. Yacoub Rafidi, and Rev. Fr. Louis Hazboun. Their remarks highlighted the importance of investing in Latin Patriarchate School – Birzeit and continuously developing its facilities in a way that reflects its educational mission and contributes to providing the best possible opportunities for its students, parishioners, and the local community.
Prior to the ceremony, guests were invited to tour the new and renovated facilities and witness the work and preparations that had been completed. The occasion reflected a strong spirit of cooperation and partnership and reaffirmed the belief that improving the educational environment is not simply about developing buildings and facilities, but rather about making a meaningful investment in people and in the future of students and generations to come.
The opening of these facilities forms part of the General Administration of the Latin Patriarchate Schools’ ongoing efforts to develop Latin Patriarchate School – Birzeit and strengthen its educational, pastoral, sporting, and cultural spaces. Through these continued efforts, the school further strengthens its role as an educational institution serving students, the parish, and the wider community, while remaining committed to its mission of providing quality education in a safe, stimulating, and human-centered environment.
